I hate to clean cold, hard critters, I carry water or clean my hands with snow, the other animals in the woods appreciate the leftovers. flinch

I've seen haversack/game bags with loose netting on the outside, open at the top, to tuck the game in. I think this was a German design. I use leather tongs looped over the buttons of my haversack, but usually only with shot killed game. The rifle opens 'em up a bit more. I carry them by hand.

One of my favorite things to do is to kill a squirrel or rabbit and roast him right on the spot. Build a small fire and heat up some tea and cook the squirrel on a green spit. Then a pipeful of a nice mild tobac for desert. Mmmmm.

Well, being in South Carolina, I do not often experience these problems like I did when in Indiana.

The cats enjoy them here.
(The big Maine Coon is purring now and I did not even shoot anything)

I don't know about PC, but I don't like the game vest either due to the fleas and ticks.
What I use is a home-made game carrier made from a piece of leather. It starts out as a 2" x 12" (or so) piece of leather.
Cut strips about 3/8" or so wide most of the way from one end to the other. Now you have 5 or 6 thin strips connected at one end into one wide strip.
Cut a slit @ 1" long near the free end of each thin strip and tuck them thru themselves to form loops.
I cut 2 slits in the wide end for belt slots. You can hang the game from your belt or just carry the end of the strap in your hand and drop it when it's time to shoot.
I like to let them cool out a bit before I ever pick them up. Most of the bugs will drop off and it give the woods a few minutes to settle down after the shot.
When it's real hot out during early squirrel season, I carry an ice bag and clean them on the spot.
