does anyone know what traditional way a larger Germanic flint pistol could be carried on the Person. I realize many were carried in Holsters fitting over the saddle, but i want to carry it on myself. A Large belt hook comes to mind , but cant remember ever seeing one on a non Milatary German pistol , or is there a picture of an orriginal style leather or cloth holster and how was it attached , was it stuck in a sash or on a belt ? Thanks

I have a thing made of leather, it is for Muzzle loading pistols only, and its a sling that holds the pistol in the loading position under or over the coat.
I will if you want, I will try to find a way to get you a photo.
It is very cheep to make and works realy cool.
As far as its use in history goes I have seen old paintings of men in England and Scotland using one.

Thanks Sir michael was looking for more of a civilian get up but this looks interesting . Allmost like a more modern Holster . I wonder if they used them in the 1700's ?

Understood but, you might want to consider an adaptation of the basic design. In the eary 1700s most of the references to carrying pistols I've run across refer to carrying them in pockets or under belts or in bags.
