Have a Bess on the way and would like to make some paper cartridges (not blanks) but can't find a template. Does anyone have one they could post?

draw a "square" on a piece of stiff card.6"x6".then on the rhd side measure up 3"then draw from the 3" a line across to the top left corner this gives you your template shape.cut above the 3" line so your square now has an angled top \ like so .you can use this shape to cut around on newspaper to give you the cartridge base .then cut a piece of dowel 9/16 diameter by 6"long .draw a line 4 1/2 "from the end as a mark .roll the paper around the dowel from the line twisting the tail at the end and pull the cartridge off the dowel.u should now have a tube shape with a twist at one end.drop your ball in and twist the tube to "seal" the ball in then pour a measured charge in 70/80 grains to suit your needs.fold the excess paper over in a tail and either paper glue or tie in place depending on your teacher/preference.there you go a basic cartridge .sorry theres no photos but this is my version of the 10 or so different one,s off t,internet atb

Go to YouTube and look up "Making Minie Ball Cartridges" you will find a LOT of ways to "skin the cat" along with dimensions to use - you may need to adjust the paper size for the Bess's ball but the idea is the same  :v
