i decided to check out some local muzzleloading clubs and the Cascade Mountain Men were kind enough to let me come join them as a guest for their monthly meat shoot.
it was a blast! there were 19 shooters and we had about 3/4 of the range reserved for club use. ive never seen so many traditional muzzleloader shooters before (inlines are more common in WA). the shooting was a mix of off-hand and cross stick at both 50 and 100 yards. sadley i dont have much experience with either kind of shooting so my groups were pretty bad. my poor accuracy aside, the event was incredibly fun and has me seriously considering joining their club.
i did end up with a consolation meat prize and a 20 pound (estimated) chunk of telephone cable lead. the lead wasnt really part of the event but one of the members was handing out assorted chunks of lead after the shoot.
got to make lotsa smoke and spend time with people who share my hobby. it was a good day.
