casting lee real bullets

Mould and or lead not hot enough for good fill out. Bases look rounded which means the ridges probably aren't filled out completely either. Needed for accurate shooting.

need find some bee wax that why i stop at 28.. had put last 10 15 in back in the pot the mould was hot to the touch with a pair of leather gloves on..

where can you get beewax found it on amazon..
Turkey foot traders has it, I don’t know how they compare in price with Amazon. Lard was used in the past, not as firm as a wax mix but can get you some shots while waiting
I got wax off ebay but if there is a local apiarist then they may have some

Find a beekeeper. They have extra usually. You'll most likely have to strain it. I use neatsfoot oil and beeswax. Just enough oil to soften it enough to use a "cake cutter' made from copper tubing. Good bullets look ok. The wrinkled ones are from a mold/lead that is too cold or both. Lee molds being aluminum get hot big time if you cast fast and furious. That can result in frosty looking bullets.
"Snowseal" Available at grocery stores and hardware stores everywhere. Pretty good softening mix to start. I think you'll love those Lee R.E.A.L. bullets. This was my first year hunting with them in my .54 Bobcat. 1 shot, 125 ranged yards, dropped my whitetail like a bag of dirty socks.

If you get if from a beekeeper and it needs cleaning, just melt and pour through a couple of layers of cheese cloth and let it sit. A bit of the bee parts etc. may come thought but usually that stuff will settle to the bottom of the container. Besides, for what we use it for a bit of bee parts won't hurt anything. You do have to be careful a wing doesn't get into your lube as it can cause a flyer.

An easier way would be to powder coat them, thats a neat way and gives the REAL bullet a better hold in the bore.

going to order some beewax . been 20years last time i seen someone working with bees.. my dad had honey bees years ago.. Frontiers goog wright up on lubing your conical bullets...
Try 50/50 beeswax/lard. I was experimenting with lubes for competition and in my research in the way back machine I found an archived thread about accuracy problems with the “new” formula Crisco. The “new” formula is to cut down on blood mud clogging folks arteries but it somehow had an adverse effect on muzzleloading accuracy.
All I can say is lard beat crisco in all my testing.

I use xlox similar to lee Alox i stopped beeswax crisco mixes all the other types of lubes i tumble lube single coat ive tumble lubed double coated them and couldnt tell any different in accuracy i use it on .32 maxiballs all the way to the 1000 grain .72 conicals i have it really shines with the various REALS i cast them in 50 320 54 300 58 440 gr i use them on unlubed maxi balls in 50 through 58 best lube ive found

How far does a pound of beeswax go in terms of bullets lubed if mixed with vegetable oil?
My current winter lube is two parts olive oil to one part bees wax. summer requires more bees wax.
