That dreaded hollow base air pocket would get me on occasion, so I designed a little stand to keep the base plug warn while dropping the minie from the mold. Thought someone else might find this helpful.

A hot mould and a hot pin eliminate the voids. I keep my moulds and pins hot by handling them quickly and casting at a very brisk pace.

Same here, never a problem for me. If for some reason like SWMBO interrupts the session, I take a while longer to drop the minie and let mold & base plug to reheat, the first and if needed the second cast to go back in the pot
