Replying to another post got me to thinking this might interest everyone.
Purchase an inexpensive (read cheap) plastic funnel, cut the spout off to allow your rod to pass through the spout part, yet enter the muzzle, and cut the funnel part of 3/4 or an inch tall, it makes a cheap bore guide, it can double as a small funnel to assist in pouring the powder charge down the barrel, and it takes up little room in a shooting kit or bag.
 
Another one that is reasonable, is a tapered flared nut used to connect flared connections on copper tubing.

For a 50 cal a 45.70 case works perfect with the primer pocket drilled out and debured to fit with your rod. I got this from someone here, great idea.
