Cheap Felt Wad Source

The little round felt pads that you use for your cabinet doors. You can get them at Lowes, WalMart, Home Depot, etc. They measure 3/8" which translates to .375. This is perfect for a 36 caliber revolver and may work for a 44. They cost about $1.00 for 75. That is less than 1 cent each.

They would work. I prefer to go to Lowes and get the felt strips they sell for weather sealing. I soak em in liquid lube, freeze em, then cut them out by the hundreds with a wad punch. The freezing makes them easier to cut, and they are compressible so one size can work for several calibers. 5/8" works for 54-62 caliber. 1/2 inch works for 50, 45, and 44. A person could probably take a 44 cartridge case, sharpen the edges, chuck it up in a drill, and cut a lot of wads that will compress nicely into a 36 caliber cylinder in short order. Of course at a buck for 75 of them, you can do a lot of shooting with the store-bought variety!

An old felt hat brim and sheet cork works for some applications. Just punch them out with a punch for the size you need...cartridge case or TOW bought punch is two suggestions!

that's what I got, make wads for my revolvers and my .50's cheap. they help tighten groups noticeably too.

These are the punches i use only 6 dollars and the set comes with enough sizes to 36 to 50 wads.[url] http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=3838[/url] They cut felt wads out cleanly. I cut the wads on a piece of 2x6 with linoleum glued on top with a old rubber hammer.

I don know why they wouldn't. A person might have ta sharpen them up a little with a stone, but the price is right! Good Tip Rebel! :applause: :applause:

I think they would work. The punches i got from Harbor Fright cut a lot better when i cut cut on on Vinyl flooring scrap if you don't have any you can buy a sample from Home Depot for a dollar.

I notice the center pin on the harbor freight punches. Would'nt that leave you with the center removed from the wad? The add says the tool cuts washers and gaskets?? :hmm:

I use Duro-Felt and melted Crisco for my wads.
