After almost 30 years tweaking locks, I have to agree with you. It is a shame that an expensive gun comes with a lock that needs more work. Gunmakers know no more about tuning flintlocks than the average guy that owns one. It is the courageous owners who take matters in hand, figure out what is wrong, and fix it. I just helped another member here fix his flintlock, via emails. He managed to put the bridle back on wrong, and the sear would not engage the full cock notch. It only tood a few notes back and forth, and he found out what he did wrong. I am waiting for him to shoot the gun this weekend and tell me how much better it shoots, and how reliable it is. He is so pumped right now, and with very good reason. He was very nervous about taking that lock apart.
