I just stumbled across this site, and I thought others on the Forum would enjoy it too. Some of the prices are a bit (ahem) "steep", but the photographs are mouth-watering!

Those prices ain't "steep" them's VERTICAL. Even the repro accys are pricey. but the guns are a gorgeous work of art.

On a lighter note- I found this cartoon and thought some folks here might find it amusing, or perhaps a little too close to home :D.

yeah, but what's really scary is how many times the word "SOLD" appears on that site, too...

people with that much money should invest it...and I can help!!!

I've been figger'n,.... and I think if I was to sell, my house, my land, my pickup, and my "critters",... AND, if you fellas could loan me 'bout $50,000,.... I could buy the purty gun at the "top" of tha page!!

Lessee, $130,000 for a Holland & Holland .577 N.E. or my house & car.

I'm thinking, I'm thinking . . . :hmm:

The choice is obvious as I see it, the H&H requires no expensive upkeep unlike a house and car. ::

Haven't priced .577 N.E. ammo lately have you?

Nice guns, but I have a problem spending more than I made this year on some of them. My wife REALLY has a problem with my spending more than I made this year on some of them. :haha:

Heck Stumpy,.... I didn't even see the H&H, in fact I never made it past tha 1st. page 'fore my wife had to place a paper bag over my mouth and tell me to breathe "slooooooooowly"!! :shocking: :haha:

There's a bolt-action .358 Win for only $9,500 that haunted my sleep last night. Always wanted a .358 Win. Wonder if they'd put it on lay-a-way for $100 down and $20/month?

Dear Santa . . .

No, no! What am I saying? Evil centerfire. Bad, bad. Must resist. :nono:

Now, fellas (and ladies), I's got it all figgered out! That nice piece on page 1 sells fer $55,000. Now, since there's about 1600 of us on this here forum, that works out to only about $34 apiece! I think we oughtta buy it fer Claude fer Christmas! :shocking:How's that fer kissin' up! :: 'Course, we's all gonna hafta "test" fire it, just to make sure that it's a worthy gift for our Fearless Leader! I reckon by the time Claude actually gits it, he'll be 'bout 127 years old, but hey, with the miracles o' modern medicine, that shouldn't be no problem! ::

P.S. This one here is my favorite. Page 6, John Twigg blunderbuss c.1775. ::

I am waiting to win that club gun on December the 10th. Remember that one!!! :shocking: :shocking:

Sure. $55k for a gun. It had better belonged to George Washington and Robert E. Lee before I get a 2nd.

WOW!!!! well i can never ever afford the cheapest one that page so i started taking a good look .
anyone notice the pans on some of them SXS flinters ???
the first couple looked to have no liners but a strait funnel right to the main charge

I had been told years ago that a vent liner was a repair and should not be needed on a new flintlock. A liner on a new gun is a short-cut; though if it does erode in use it is easier for an owner to remedy without a trip back to the gumsmith/manufacturer.

Actually if Im not mistaken i think you will find liners came about as one of the improvements in a SXS and wing shooting. also the rolling frizzen, improved breach, water proof pans shorter barrels and a few other great things we smooth bore shooters hold so dear and many , many golden age SXS where built new with liners Manton was good for that . but maybe ???? the liner did come about because of all the shooting and thus didnt burn out so fast ??? who knows , however thats neither here or there if a liner was good enough fork masters like Manton ,, who am i to guess different.

take a good look seems the pan is kinda like a funnel ,,, you would think it would make for slow ignition the one im speaking of is the of charles moore. kinda looks as if the pan is part of the breech not the lock?

also take notice of the pans and lids themselves some interesting thoughts going into their designs .
also look at the Manton SXS the frizzens are not inline with the pivot arm ,, they are off set thus moving the frizzens closer to seal the step breeches
truly a masters work

Musketeer? Wish you hadn't found this site. Not that I don't like the beautiful things I see there. The wife now has me tearing up the house. It's my fault I hid one of those William Smith Fowlers with a case and all the parts somewhere and can't seem to find it now. The wife didn't really pay much attention to (my stuff) until she saw this site now the work has begun. It's been 2 days and no luck life is strange. The attic is next then the kids rooms heck I may even find something I forgot I had guess spring cleaning got started early this year. Maybe it's under the piano got to go look.
Keep finding good sites Fox
