[Erzulis boat]

This is a technique to quickly and accurately square the end on a "Hawken" style buttplate. I put it on a 3/4" mandrel and faced it. I drew 2 lines with a felt tip marker to show that parallel grooves for decoration could also be turned if desired.

Voila!- 10 seconds later... a perfectly square end.

You could call yourself "The New Yankee Gunsmith" like Norm Abram's "New Yankee Workshop" series on PBS. He builds old furniture using modern tools and methods. Pretty inovative techniques.
