I haven't replied to this thread yet simply because I have never shot chunk gun.
I can't shoot from a prone position. Can't breath when laying on my belly. Even as a young man with flat tummy I couldn't. So I don't know much about chunk gun shooting.
Except.....I have watched it. And, I can advise you to expect some really tough and serious competition. The guys who do this are super dedicated to it and often are great shots. Scores turned in are pretty amazing at times.

Got that right! I saw Charlie Bowers shoot a 2.486 inch 10 shot string this past Spring which is a new record. And this was on a day with rapidly changing light and wind conditions. Most of the hole in his sighter could be covered by a penny.

Another match that amazes me with some really great shooting is the Hawken match at Friendship. Varying distance, aproximately 135 yards. Between hills with shifting winds, kinda uphill. Basically impossible to do at all. :shocked2: Yea, right. The groups turned in make some of us want to take up fingerpainting. The top shooters there make the legend stories more believable.
