Does anyone have an idea of what this revolver is? I believe it to be civil war era.....

I think it's a first variation of the Allen and Wheelock - how are the nipples threaded into the cylinder? Could it be that they are installed from inside the holes? More pictures would be great!
The Federal gov't did buy a few of these during the war. It's a rare gun and seems to be in darn good condition.

Very faint, but the barrel reads: Allen’s pt’s Jan.13 Dec.15 1857 Sept.7 1858 and Worchester Mass US

Thoughts on a rough ballpark value? $500? $1000? $2000?
Beautiful, valuable historic pistol. I don't know enough about them to guess a number but have seen Colts and Remingtons - much more common- in worse condition, with prices above $2k,at collector's shows. W/ more detailed pics, others here should be able to give you a better idea. Ask them to start a side conversation. Too many prices listed here could cause the site trouble.

Depends on bore and chamber condition. In firing shape probably $700-$1000. I’ve seen these listed for over $ 2000. I’d look around on the interweb and get an idea.

All dependent on original condition and whether or not it has ever been molested.

If you can possibly tie it to a particular soldier it will obviously increase its value.

Very nice piece and would be an enjoyable research project!
