Indeed. Too bad I don't know any metalurgists. Fortunately, I noticed what was happening and rescued the barrel before any serious damage was done. That formula was going around by word of mouth for many a year before anyone mentioned the harmful side effects. My rejection of it happened before the Internet and in the BBS era, there were no black powder BBS's that I knew of.Hydrogen peroxide should never be used to clean gun barrels: any metallurgist will tell you this....
I tried it after a glowing article in Muzzleblasts in the 90's. I almost destroyed the barrel of an antique target pistol and picket rifle using that stuff. Went back to using plain water and have had no trouble since.Indeed. Too bad I don't know any metalurgists. I saw your old post from Nov about wanting to try some REALs. I got a 250 gr REAL mold today, let me know if ya want a few to test.Have always shot RB and cleaned with water. Since barrel is not protected by a patch do you have to do anything different after shooting a Maxi or Real? May try them in the future. Thanks
