If there are any collectors or interests in the Santa Barbara. There is a site dedicated to it. The site name is Projekt 1858 and/or Project 1858
Or I can post a link if allowed.

I have a question, has anyone tried to fit a Pietta or Uberti cylinder in them so maybe it will accept an unmentionable?

Yes, a Pietta cylinder fits good. An Uberti is too short. I've had three of them. I just sold two of them on here. I think one had a Pietta cylinder by the looks of the proof marks on the cylinder.

Isn't that a site devoted to converting the 1858 Remington to fire cartridges? If so we are not allowed to discuss them here.

No its not. They are trying to gather any and all information on the Santa Barbara. Same person has one on the Centaure also. I think he collects them. I think the site originates from Germany. Guys name is Michael Gloystein.

Thanks for answer! And do I understand correctly that Pietta cylinder also rotates and locks properly?

Yes it does. Or so mine did. Don't remember the date of manufacturing though. As for the strength difference I have no idea. The Santa Barbara is supposed to be better steel from what I read.

From what I’ve found at firingline forum, some of them will take Pietta, but some will take Uberti. So, only try and error ))

I tried both. The Uberti goes on and cycled good. But there was too much gap between the cylinder and the barrel. It can probably shoot, but there's going to be a lot of flame coming out the sides. And also the cylinder slap against the recoil shield is not good.

It just seems that they may be different according to manufacture year
