Cleaning sheepskins...?

A good buddy of mine has given me three very wooly sheepskins. They are in good shape but I'd like to get them cleaned. Any suggestions?

In the past I have followed the following steps to clean furs. I don't know about Wooly
Skins. Perhaps, try it on a limited area of one skin before going hog wild on the whole skin and
see the results.

1. Use corn starch.
2. Spread it all over the fur and rub it in to the fur with a damp cloth. The corn starch will absorbers the dirt and the fur will be clean just like new.
3. Finish by vacuuming it out and brush the fur coat.
4. Repeat if very dirty.

I've had some success using Woolite in a high-capacity washing machine, set on "Delicate". Kept an eye on the cycle progress and removed the hide before the final spin and let it drip/air dry. There was a little pilling here and there, but nothing egregious.
