Since you ask for criticism, I'll make one, although I admire the work you've done in making a silk purse out of a sow's ear, so to speak. Of all the work you've done on the pistol, the least harmonious seems to be the chunky forend cap. Most of that is, I'm sure, due to the chunky lines of the gun itself, but it doesn't seem to fit all that well with the refinement of your other work.

You show real talent, and your work is far and away above whatever I could dream of doing, so take my criticism with all the grains of salt you'd like.

Thanks for the criticism I truly appreciate it. Since I haven't seen enough examples of historic pistols to get the jist of what is kosher what do you think would have looked good in place of the nose cap? I actualy was considering making adjustments to it because it was coming loose when I fired it anyway. :v

Good question Sir, I hadn't thought of that, I guess CVA probably hadn't either :rotf:

Oldsarge That sure doesn't look like the one I have. Nice job with the barrel filed down to half oct, half round. Might just try that. BTW I like your "handle" makes me feel good!

Tom

Well Old Sarge, how did there get to be two of us in here :rotf: I like your handle too.
Mike

 Great technique and a good outcome---that's a pistol I would be proud to have in my collection. I like your methods of using the mustard and then spray bluing---I will copy this method and give credit to you for the advise. I think some of us would have been in immediate super love if the original came with a flintlock--regardless an outstanding gun---I am sure you will receive many compliments for your work's originality.

Thanks for the kind words, I am sincerely flattered, especially because you intend to copy the technique I used. I hope it exceeds your expectations.
Mike :)

Now I'm gonna have to re-do mine. Mine looks like it is really old. Stock is real dark. Used my home made walnut stain, came out real dark. The barrel need something. Half round would be perfect. Thanks for the idea. :hatsoff:
