I agree. I am just not the guy to do it so I dont. If it needs work I ask for help. Like my lock and/or trigger on my best shooting CVA .50. Suddenly developed a 55lb trigger pull. I will look again and then ask for HELP

I am buying from Cimarron (made by uberti) but ever thing I have read the quality is a little bit better. Who knows, do you know anything about Cimarron?

I have a Cimarron hand gun and it is a very nice and well-made gun.
I could not have a nicer gun.

Large companies can order their merchandise with their specifications.

I own one Cimarron revolver. It’s a cartridge gun. It is very nice. I’ve heard a lot of good things about that company. My experience is limited to the one revolver.

I got two from Cimarron a 1858 and a SAA Peacemaker in .45 Colt and they are both "TOP SHELF". My other BP revolvers are a mix of Uberti's and Pietta's and while they are nice they are a step behind the Cimarron's. On average I like Uberti's but if I want to spend the extra bucks I buy Cimarrons or Taylor's.
This is how I would rank these four companies:
1)Cimarron
2)Taylor
3)Uberti
4)Pietta

But if you know how to work them over a Pietta will look and shoot with the best of them as the fundamentals to make a top drawer revolver are there ,just not fitted up and fine tuned from the factory!

I agree but not every one can do it properly without screwing up a functioning revolver and making it into a club :v. It's also why some people will spend the extra on a Colt instead of a Taurus :hmm:

I've seen Pietta's, (steel frame) about a month ago on sale at Cabela's for $149.00. I think you could send this off to Gooney, have the whole works done on it and still be under what a Colt costs, No?

I, too, have thought the 1862 Colt Police is the prettiest cap n ball revolver out there.

I acquired my first ones at a local gun show ... the price was too good to pass up. My brother, the almost original Bad Bob was deep into the black powder world with all the trimmings at the time and every time we would shoot black powder he would be nearly drooling on my 1862's revolvers.

One of them had a rather short barrel that made it a real pocket pistol and the shortened loading lever made shaving a ring of lead off the ball rather difficult. Sometimes it was a real problem ... sometimes not. Thirty some years ago at Christmas, after the White Footed Thumper Inquiry, I gave the almost original Bad Bob the two 1862 Colt's. I padded them and packed them in a small box along with a couple of boxes of swagged lead balls. He was really puzzled when he picked up the box ... being so small and so heavy. When he opened the box and realized what was inside he teared up and was speechless for a while. I think he knew just how much I liked those two pistols.

Interestingly, Bad Bob's son mentioned to me a couple of weeks back that he thought the 1862 is the prettiest pistol, too.

I don't shoot mine much but quite often just get it out and work the action while on puter or watching a movie. My wife yells in from the other room,"will you please stop clicking that gun" she can hear the trigger click on the cock notches as I cycle the gun and let the hammer down with my thumb.
I just enjoy the feel of it in my hand!
It's a shooter too, now with the new blade sight I installed in a dove tail on the muzzle.
Zonie, you have got to get another one!

It does work well in the square notch (rear sight notch) that is cut in the hammer skirt. It profiles from shooting position just like a regular target sight when viewed against a bulls eye.
It's made from mild steel bar stock ,one piece with the dove tail milled on the base.
