My .54 GPR likes 3F up to about 75grs, then it seemed to open up a bit more than it did with 2F. With mine, most liked load for 3F is 70grs with .530 ball and .015 mink oil patch.
Listings?there are listings for such. And yes, I know 2F is recommended but there are listings for 3F.
That's what I'm shooting out of my GPR. Definitely going to try some 3F next time I go to the range. My .54 GPR likes 3F up to about 75grs, then it seemed to open up a bit more than it did with 2F. With mine, most liked load for 3F is 70grs with .530 ball and .015 mink oil patch.
The general recommendation is for anything over 50 caliber to use 2F. Pretty sure this is the first time I have ever used it and I have never had any problems with 3F out of any of my ML. All of my .50's has performed very well with 3F and most likely the .54 I used to own. However, its been so long now since I owned that rifle that although I'm pretty sure I shot 3F, I cannot swear to that.Listings?
Don't worry about "listings" this is a simple activity, with a wide margin for error, it isn't metallic cartridge reloading. There are posts and topics all over this forum about using various grades of powder in the full spectrum of calibers and gauges of guns. What one quickly learns (if one can put aside dogmatic adherence to old myths) is that the old mantra about 3f for guns smaller than .50 caliber and 2f for guns larger than .50 caliber is nonsense. The general recommendation is for anything over 50 caliber to use 2F. I will be giving 3F a try out of this .54
3F has never let me down so far.I was using Swiss 3F to prime a flinter yesterday and I could not tell one bit of difference from using Goex 4F for priming.
I can certainly see why it's a favorite.
I'm sure I will be. I know some folks use 3F in .54's and, as I have posted, I most likely used it in my first .54 many moons ago.Shoot it and you will be fine.
