Well I was out last week getting ready for deer season by doing a little shooting with my TC Hawken 58.Cal. And a guy was beside me with his CVA Optima, ugliest dang rifle I ever saw but anyway when I was done he took notice of the good groups I was getting compared to his. So he asked if he could try my rifle I said sure but what he didnt notice as I loaded it for him was that instead of the 80 grains of powder and a round ball. I loaded him a fullhouse load with a 560 grain maxi hunter. He touched it off and several curse words later about the hit it gave him he said anything that hits like that on the back end must do terrible things on the other. I said it works for me. Went back to do somemore shootin today and he was there again with a new TC Renegade in 58.cal said he sold his Optima he felt underguned after shooting mine. :rotf:

You could have dissuaded him from even going traditional with a stunt like that. BTW, there's a Preacherman at TheHighRoad website who pulled a stunt like that on his prison coworkers. They called him a weakling for shooting shotguns instead of manly rifles. He invited them to shoot his 10 ga and gave them magnum loads. They were hurting. He then slips in two trap loads and fires them in rapid succession and calmly pocketed the shells with a statement that shooting his gun was nothing to get excited about. Even preachers can be sneaky. :haha:

now that is a load that will seperate the men from the boys!...or identify those who stand and those who squat :rotf: :rotf:

personally, no thank you!

Brett

Im going to go with Gary on this one. Then again full loads to me is 200grs 2f and 2 62 balls. It only lifts the leg a 1/2 foot but dont punch like your load in my short Enfield. Fred :hatsoff:

So this guy is gonna be going around whomping at Deer with God knows how much powder and heavy conicals......You musta not liked this guy? :shake: :rotf:

58.cal,
that's Naaaasty!
Would have loved to see the look on his face. :rotf:

One of our range officers obviously watched too much tv as a youngster, on his first shot ever from a handgun (357mag) did the one handed thing & ended up with a front sight in the forehead fair between the eyes. They tell me the blood stains on the floor faded eventually.....
Smokey.

I guess the real question here is, did he offer you a chance to shoot his Optima that day and did you take him up on it? :hmm:
(you could have seen first hand what all the hype is about) :rotf:

No he didnt offer and I didnt ask. I would be to afraid that the ugly on that rifle might rub off.

The first case ever of a rifle having cooties... :rotf:

The only reason I did it was I got tired of hearing about how could I go after deer with a pop gun. So I decided to show him what a pop gun it was I think I got his attention.
