A friend of mine found out one of his favorite deer hunting areas here in Oregon was going to have a muzzleloader hunt this year. He did a quick read in the regs on what was a legal muzzleloader here and went to one of the big box stores for an "in-line" because he thought it would be easier to deal with than a traditional rifle. (note: inlines are legal here, but with a lot of restrictions, open iron sights only,no fiber optics, exposed percussion cap only, no centerfire primers, no sabots,etc.). When he got there they tried to sell him an in-line that was clearly illegal based on the regs (don't even know why they bother to sell those things here as you can't use 'em) so he ran for the door and tracked me down since he knew I shot muzzleloaders. I don't own any in-lines but I took him out and showed him the ropes with a .58 percussion rifle and a .54 flintlock. After demystifying the traditional rifles he decided that was the way to go. I think he's looking at a GPR now at the same store that tried to sell him the in-line. So we got's us another front stuffer. Its amazing how much people like these things if ya can just get 'em to shoot one. Now if I can just get him into shooting the rock locks. :redthumb:
