Finally got around to shooting my Lehigh some (only six months after I finished it).

Did some load development, she seems to like a .490 ball, .018 ticking with either moose snot or moose juice and 80 grains of FFFG. This will be my hunting load. Tough loading, so I played around with some thinner patches, easier loading, and groups only opened up an inch and a half at 50 yards. So that will be nice for plinking and such.

After the entire family shot it, my sister and mom decided they wanted some pics. Well, my sister seems to be a pro at getting the perfect timing, she got about a dozen like these.

Id like to thank everybody on this site. They made building this rifle MUCH easier than it would have been with just me and my books. I also want to thank all the guys who gave me tips on tuning the lock, and shooting flinters. Especially Paul Vallandigham, your advice on lock tuning was very helpful. She shoots UPSIDE DOWN!

Anyway, thanks again all! Im hooked!

barebackjack,
I'm a bit of a pyro myself, so I just can't get enough pics like that.
One word of advice if I may: try not to close both eyes when you squeeze off a shot. Hee Hee.

Tell me about it!

I kinda snickered at some comments from guys on here mentioning how hard it is to get used to that flash right there in your face. Kinda thought, "pfffft, that wont happen to me".

Well I put nearly 100 rounds through the thing now, and I STILL find myself every once in a while "squintin". The first 20 shots were pretty rough.

Boone,
Some tinted shooting glasses may help with your flinching issue.I like the yellow, but to
each his own. :hmm:

Great pics, glad to see ya shooting it! Now I'm waiting for pics of it hanging on a buck's rack in the Nodak frigid winter.

A lot more shooting will help with the flinch and squint but try this. Don't load the barrel but prime the pan and aim at a target, fire the pan and see where your sights are. Keep doing this and you will loose the squint and save a lot of powder and balls for serious shooting.
