Just as an aside, forks were used by the Romans but big for cooking.
Eating with a fork did not become a thing until renaissance Italy, and unlike most styles spread slow. It wasn’t until after the WBTS that it moved in to common peoples homes.
Although there are fork sets for the genteel before this spoons and knives served most people in America for eating almost to the twentieth century.
Even then it was WW one that introduced so many soldiers to forks and modern table manners.
This is not to say that a Revolutionary soldier or a mountain man couldn’t have a fork for eating. However if you want a simple kit but not drink your soup and eat with your finger a spoon and knife should fill your needs
