I was wondering about what other nations besides the US and Canada allow muzzleloaders for hunting? I remember putting a post on another board where a member from Norway stated that they cannot have muzzleloaders there. I found it odd but that is what they have to deal with.

Anyone care to comment?

Me too. Isn't that a real shame? I red in some Black Powder Hunting magazines of hunts in Australia as well as parts of Africa. I do recall one hunt for fallow deer in Corsica, Sardinia or Italy where the author used a muzzleloader to take that particular animal. But I am wondering about other parts of the world.

I can't tell you this based on observations, but reliable and knowledgable sources tell me that in the rural areas of Mexico what little hunting is done is often with muzzleloaders.

In discussions with several local fellows in Oaxaca this past July about muzzleloaders,I can tell you for sure that they were familiar with the mechanics of loading, firing, cleaning and maintaince. Makes me wonder if there might not be a few desirable rifles and smoothbores floating around down there! It would be mostly smoothbores,I'm sure, and all of them would be those new-fangled caplock things :haha:.

Hi.
I am from Norway and we can have muzzleloaders and it is also allowed to hunt with them. The one who said that its not dont know what he is talking about.
BTW, last year I was hunting Moose here wit a Ped. sharps with blackpowder loads, but didnt had the luck shooting one. It was my first hunt with the real powder, and I will hunt this year as well with the black stuff.

Australia allows hunting with Muzzle-loading arms of all types, though it is probably more popular as a target shooting and rendevous thing. I like both, but there is something special about being out bush with a muzzle-loader.

In Germany it's forbidden to hunt with a muzzleloader. :( :youcrazy: :cursing:
I envy all who can hunting the old way :)
:hatsoff:
