Been there and your right. It's fairly thick coming into it and the point comes together behind the ricasso. Risky...but I might keep this one for myself.

But...thanks for pointing that out. Your absolutely right in doing so.
 
I dislike when those little fiddly things (that perhaps I overlooked) mess up my projects....
 
Me too...

Think of reversing the plunge cut and heading it backwards towards the tang. It leaves metal out in front (proud) of the wood. And so Protects it a bit.
