A grand seems kinda much for the rusty old thing, you think? Still, I'd have thought it would be much more eroded having been buried - pretty decent condition for what it's been through.
 
Would have been something imported during the Civil War... or afterwards by Bannerman maybe.

With an opening bid of $979, I think it'll probably sit unsold for a LONG time. But maybe two rich idiots, for whom money means nothing, will get into a bidding war and it will sell for twenty grand....
