Thank you. My buddy made it. He’s 27 and talented as all H-E double toothpicks. He wanted to do some engraving on it but I wanted it with as little bling as possible.

Care to elaborate? As to why you think it’s “hardly” a po boy?

A po boy is very minimal, no butt plate, no inlays, no engraving. You have a very nice southern rifle, very nice indeed.

I like it. I too believe it has too much brass to be considered a poor boy. Just call it a southern or southern mountain. Did I mention i do like it?

Well he wanted to practice his skills so I let him do minimal. He’s been commissioned by one of the Muzzleloaders Associations president to build a rifle. He knows what he’s doing.

My poor boy rifle does not have a butt plate, patch box, or hunter's star. I would like them on another rifle, but it would not be a poor boy because of them.
Now I see the other posts.
And the experts agree with me!

Beautiful rifle but I think the best part is your buddy built it for you. You're correct, he sure appears to be talented and at 27 he's the potential to produce guns for foreseeable future. It's good to know the art of gunbuilding is being kept alive.
