I think somebody made this from an old TC or Investarms rifle barrel. I'm leaning towards TC because of the shape of what's left of the snail. Looks like they trimmed some of the back of the patent breech plug off too. A 1/4" by 28 nipple will fit the threads, but won't seat all the way. Bore has a weird chamber ahead of the the chamber in the plug.
About 3.5" long from hook to muzzle. Muzzle is not even across. Could be a neat project to make a .50 cal derringer, or at least cool ML paperweight. Maybe saw the top of the snail off and make it a little matchlock?
