I have a muzzle loading SXS shotgun which has a damaged muzzle.
Is cutting the barrel back a few inches a file and hack saw job that can be done at home by the average guy? I'm thinking of using a little grey epoxy to fill between the barrels and ribs rather then using solder.
Any thoughts on how I should proceed?
Thanks for your help.
Shoot safely you don't want to fly on an EMS helicopter.

An electric chop saw, does a great job, with less stress on the solder joints.
Set it up square, pad, or protect your barrels, with tape.
Stack the barrels, sideways, one over the other.
The barrels won't slip that way.
And run coolant( garden hose), on the blade, and barrels.
Cut steady, and slow...don't rush the cut.
Easy as pie!

A normal metal blade ( in good shape) will do. Finish with some 400 stone ( or sandpaper on a wood block) to deburr the muzzle

I use tape to keep me straight(just for a line) and a hacksaw

Depending on the taper of the barrel, you may have to shim the barrel against the rest to make the barrels & the chop saw blade cut at 90 degrees.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I don't have a chop saw but I'll have to ask around to see if someone at work does. Good point about shiming the barrels Bird Dod.

Shoot safely.

If you go the hand hack saw route, use a 32TPI blade for a smoother cut. I would also lightly clamp a straight piece of steel square across the barrels to facilitate a straight cut. Emery
