CVA Mountain kit question

I know everyone is probably Mountain rifle weary lately, there has been a lot of threads- very interesting though- but I need some quick info. I have a chance at a a Mountain rifle kit. Everything's looks like it should, with one puzzlement.....there is a "Spanish marked" barrel and it is "blued". The owner claims it was "factory" blued and came with the kit. Is this plausible? Did some kits come with a "finished" barrel? BTW, stock looks like it may be maple and seems to have a 4 screw patchbox. Again, is all this plausable?

The bluing is a rust inhibiting manufacturing process. Its not a very durable blue and the barrel will have to be draw filed and either blued or browned.

All original late 70s early 80s CVA mountain rifle kits came with the barrel in the white, and had all the info "Connecticut Valley Arms" "Made in U.S.A." are stamped into the metal. Early ones had "Made in USA" Then there was those that had no place of origin, Then came the ones "Made in Spain" All in the white.
Blued barrel, with laser etching info, "Made in Spain" and proof marks is a newer replacement barrel.

Ok, well....?....in the worst case scenario, if an original barrel was switched in this kit with a replacement barrel marked Spain( and I'm not insinuating the seller did this, it may have happened long ago) .........is the kit still worth considering? The price isn't bad. Are the marked Spain barrels quality barrels, if unused that is? Thanks for all of your opinions.

I believe the Spanish barrels have proved to be accurate on target, quality barrels.

If you’re referring to that ‘kit’ on Gunbroker, the stock does have the four screw patchbox but the blued Spanish barrel is not U.S.marked or made. Also, if ya look closer, it has odd thimbles one of which is a TC or Investarm brass thimble. Plus it needs wedges and a rear sight.

Several things I see (if I’m looking at the same kit), I do believe that is a replacement barrel, the under lugs In the kit look like the 1” and the barrel dovetails look to be 3/8”. Missing wedge and maybe the tang bolt. Ramrod thimbles don’t match. All that said, the parts needed can be found at Deer Creek and all the CVA barrels I have shot are very accurate. Looks like a fair deal to me.

Yah Bubba, that's pretty much it. I retired recently and wanted to begin building something in the way of a muzzleloder. Figured a kit like this would be an easier entry level project, but I have my reservations here, and I am not fond of being fooled either. So you seem to know a thing or two about this what do you say... yeah or nay- stay away?

300 bucks would be a good price if it was complete and as others have told ya, nothin’ at all wrong with the Spanish barrels. If the price was adjusted to allow for what you’d hafta spend for thimbles & sights and wedges and screws(and as long as nothin’ else was missin’) it probably would still be a good deal.

One last thing, all this is my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

Well, I think I won't pursue this one as my "entry level" project. Just too many gray areas for me with this one. I was in contact with the seller with questions. Anyway, thanks for everyone's input, you guys spotted a lot more than I did. I learned two things here, you guys are very helpful and, two, you don't miss any muzzleloaders out there..... lol.
