CVA Mountain Rifle opinion needed

As to where the original CVA MOUNTAIN RIFLE was made, Dixie Gunworks ad in 1980 and again in 1987said the gun was made in the USA. For more on what it said see:

The ad doesn't say whether the barrel was browned or blued but my guess would be that it was browned on the factory gun.
I base this on the ad's statement:
"A German silver front sight is complemented by a browned screw adjustable rear sight."
As I recall the screw adjustable rear sight on the one I owned only adjusted elevation. It was very small and unobtrusive.

Deer Creek Products (765)525-6181 should have the parts you need. I recently bought a trigger guard for my mountain rifle from them for about 10 bucks.

Is this the same rifle in builders site under Deer Creek ? Got mine a 1/2 yr ago ,54 cal, all the barrel has is 54 and ser #, these are made by DC and best part of the rifel to me Made on the old Doug rifeling mch. A real shooter and the only gun that this :shake: :shake: old guy some yrs back said hed shoot his 4f loads out of(because of strenght) I got the booklet and he had some very very fast MV and MEs and at 100yds, couldnt bring myself to do it.But the idea of the deer falling over 200+yds away as fast as the cap poped souned nice. Yes the original factory finished ones had a browned barrel. The kits were in the white. I had both in the '80's. Bought a brand new factory made one for $100. Wish i still had it. Very nice handling, and shooting rifle.

I called CVA and the parts are CHEAP!! Sear $4, screws $.50 each. Shipping is $4, but still...

I did look at the barrel, and the MADE IN U.S.A. is huge! I hope to get time to clean it all up tonight...

IF its the same as the one made now youll find anothe screw to play with under the triggers seems they wanted to adjust a bit of everything..and it does. Fred

I've owned two of them, one in .54 and one in .50, both of them shot great and are well built. For that price, I'd grab it fast.
