I wonder what a CVA Big Bore Rifle Kit would be worth today new in box?

Well, one sold the other day for $375 and there's one left. How much is it worth to you?

It's a much nicer offering than a current production Traditions IMO. If I didn't have so many already, I would enjoy building that one from a kit. I'd get it if I were you, and the Frontier too!

Wow-I wish I was flush at the moment. I do have two of them and they are great. Maybe I should start a post-your-CVA MR thread. Maybe later today. PD

Here's mine;

You look like me. That is scary. Is that a .54? I am under the impression that the bigbores have no patchbox. I'll start the thread tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Meanwhile, here are mine in a snapshot. A .50 and .54.

He is perpetuating some of the myth, so I disregard most of it,, but what is interesting is the "Made in USA" being on the right side of the barrel,, that is a curiosity.
Though he as since gone to the plastic revolution, Toby Bridges, who made a great study of muzzleloaders at teh time, specificaly states in his 1985 "Advanced Muzzle Loader's Guide" that CVA assembled the Mountain Rifle and the "Big Bore" Mountain Rifle (the .54 and .58 versions) in the U.S.A. from parts provided from Spain but imported the CVA Hawken as a Spanish made rifle.hementions the CVA Hawken's similarity to teh T/C Hawken but notes it uses the same rifled for round ball barrel.
