He went to the prestigious Larry Storch acting school….. graduated with Shatner….I think Silverado was the only time Kevin Costner ever really acted.

I found a series on Friendly tv called Into the Wilderness. It is about mountain men, early American explorers. Very interesting.Wide and varied opinions here! Best Mountain Man movie is still Jeremiah Johnson. I like The Mountain Men a lot and Revenant is excellent, I dont understand the negative reviews of it. Good acting, story, music score and fantastic cinematography.
Man in the Wilderness is great too.
I like Black Robe, very well done, grim, just like it probably was.
Centennial is good.
Another wilderness movie that is seldom seen or spoke of is The Trap, with Oliver Reed as a trapper who takes a wife. Entertaining.
For John Wayne westerns, Searchers is his best hands down. I like most of them very well, Hondo is another fav, The Shootist, True Great is good, but not his best, in fact as a straight up western the remake was better and dont much care for Kim Darby. I dont know much about Jeff Bridges politics, nor care, he is a fine actor.
Shane and The Big Country are two of my favorite westerns.
I think that movie is a Prequel to the rest. Well to Part 1 and 2 that is. Remember the Flintlock Pistol the Predator gave Danny Glover's Character at the end of Predator II? It focused on the date on the pistol in Predator II so, it made me think Prey was set in that year??"Prey" ! Space alien predator meets bows and arrows and French flintlocks.
It was good. They flat copied at least a part of into a Star Trek movie: The Wrath of Khan.A little off topic but The Enemy Below with Robert Mitchum has always been one of my favorites.
It was Balance of Terror in season 1.It was good. They flat copied at least a part of into a Star Trek movie: The Wrath of Khan.
Excellent movie.I'm LOVING this thread. It's serving as my watch list. I watched Black Robe last night. Good flick.
Yeah it wasn't the feel good movie of the decade.Black Robe was one of the most depressing films I've ever seen...
the girl isnt bad eitherCute as a dang button.
The boat is still at Ft. Benton, but was in sad shape when I was there last summer. It looked like they were doing a bit of restoration on it. Cool little town to visit.Yep , another good " Flintlock Movie " , as I call them , would be great about now . Strange so many westerns have been mentioned , oh well ... Weird ...perhaps I missed it but I didnt see " The Big Sky " mentioned .Love that movie . Fur trade era and lots of flintlocks !! I heard and saw pics of the boat from " The Big Sky " , said it was still in existence up in Montana ! Rather amazing if true . Love to see it ... The " Patriot " was an amazing movie ! Just watched Jeremiah Johnson again last night for the 153 time ... Love both versions of the Alamo . The new version a bit better than the original version ! Thats a first ! Be great if they came out with a movie depicting the life of Johnathan Alder or Scouwa , James Smith . Here's hoping !
AH !! COOL !!! Thanks ... Sure wish I could visit it before its gone ... I can't believe Kirk Douglas is still alive !! Crazy !!The boat is still at Ft. Benton, but was in sad shape when I was there last summer. It looked like they were doing a bit of restoration on it. Cool little town to visit.
