I assume it is unchoked? The truth is, only you can determine how your shotgun will perform with any load, shot or ball. The fun is in the experimenting. Chances are, you will have one barrel that will shoot fairly close to point of aim with a ball, but it will be unusual for both of them to.

Shot loads? I use 70 or 80 grains of 777, an overpowder wad, a thin cusion wad (I quarter the whole cushion wad into 4 equal wads,) 1 and 1/4 oz of shot (I like #6) and an over the shot card. Some people just load the shot on top of two overpowder wads and skip the cusion wad.

You can play with your loads and find out what works best. If you have one barrel that throws a pattern low, you can adjust that by either increasing the amount of shot in that barrel, or decreasing the amount of powder. I know that seems like a hassle, but it works to a point.

If it is cyl bored it would be like the Navy Arms double ihad. Mine shot good with 90 grs of RS an overpowder wad, a shot cup, and 1 1/2 oz of #5 lead shot. It also shot .690 rd balls real good out to 50-60 yds Good luck.

ADK,
Mine shot 90grs. of R/S Pyrodex with equal volume of #4 lead shot for turkey. I always used on thin card over the powder, then a full cushion wad, lubed with wonder lube and then a thin card over the shot. I also got good results with 80 grs. R/S pyrodex and an equal volume of #4 or 5 shot. But you must pattern it and see what it shoots.

Replace those nipples. Use standard American nipples and you can use a standard nipple wrench. Any supplier will know the correct thread size for a CVA shotgun. Just ask. Order some spares.

those .690 roundballs REALLY ring the 25 yd gong. it will stay on a 10" paper plate at 50 yds. with practice i think it will do better. your going to like that sxs.

Dave,
If you think the .690 rings the gong, I now have an .86 that I'm waiting to try out. The mould is ordered and casts a 2 oz ball. The gong might dissapear, if I can hit it!
Mark
