So, there is leather, then, there is buckskin, it's different.
It's not made the same an it's a different material when processing is complete.

I used my buckskin, that I made myself ,
for a ball patch, iv tryed leather, but buckskin works bester as it absorb grease better than leather
Most people on the frontier I believe did use buckskin wadin an ball patchin.

As for leather wads, yes I have been using them exclusively for years. I prefer them over any paper product but that is my own personal preference. I do lube them in beeswax and olive oil slightly. Judging by my velocity readings they do much better than paper products. However, you shoot what works for you guys.
