A few weeks ago in my search for caps I decided to hit up my dad’s armory. I remembered he bought a TC in 1990-92 and I was hoping he had caps still around. He hasn’t shot the gun 15 times total and not at all in 29-30 years. Turns out he had 80-90 of them and a bag full of other supplies. He told me to just take it all. Today I was over and he gave me the rifle. It was filthy and rusty here and there. I took it all apart and cleaned the lock and trigger assy completely. It’s all in fine working order now. The nipple was junk, but came out. Below it was crunchy rusted solid to the bore. Barrel itself is just fine inside and out. I spent hours getting it in order and then gave it a few coats of Johnson’s. It’s a fine rifle once again. Wish it were a 12 ga.

I really like my New Englander. It only took me 30 ish years and 800 bucks to finally get my 12 gauge barrel.

What does the bore look like?
I dropped a green lighted nock down it last night and its fantastic. It's been shot very, very little. Dad cleaned it after his last outing several decades ago. I don't think he removed the nipple, though. I was shocked how easily it turned out. I figured I would have an arm wrestling match in my vice.
