no,india pattern.the man at derbyshire arms makes them.has the barrels bored out at a certain "workshop"that makes things for the green.assembles them and has them proofed in birmingham.i was lucky he had a batch for the 200th celebrations for Waterloo as he states on his website you can wait upto a year for a special.it was impressive to see 300 besses, blunderbusses and related stuff in 1 big room.

That's a real good looking Bess! I went to the website and all I can say is that I wish we had someone like that on this side of the pond.

Awww, how cute. Please give "doggy" a big hug for me.

Gun's nice too! However, I have flashbacks... Eaten Italian food from Fairbanks to Naples and the worst, absolute worst, was something they served in a popular restaurant with a dress code in Derby -- it was like Yorkshire Puds noodles with ketchup. I'd have preferred it on grits!

dining out in derby is like russian roulette ,5 out of six chambers does nothing for you but no6 will surprise you briefly :haha:

First off, welcome to the Forum!!

My curiosity was piqued when you wrote it was a .69 cal. Brown Bess. Standard calibers for Muskets was .76 caliber and for Carbines was .66 caliber. Is there a reason your musket is in .69 caliber?

the man who made it said it should be .68 cal but measured the bore as he,d had the odd daft one as called them .it came in at .69 cal with his bore gauge so thats what he,s put on the ticket.with a patch on the ball all will be well.he gets them bored at a govt facility and asks for them bored in .68cal.if original it should be .75cal but as a replica im not worried, when i win the lottery il buy an original .apologies for spelling gents im not the best due to wordblindness.i spell as i pronounce unless spell checkers on .then the machine spells for me

OK, it's an officer's fusil Bess. I'd love one of those...

Can we see more "doggy" pictures somewhere? Think they're thick as a brick but the puppy's so cute.

targets with the ball, and hopefully using 1 1/4 oz no 6 shot for pigeons n bunnies,im invited to join a pheasant shoot this year and that includes some vermin days so hopefully il get the all clear for protecting their feeders from squizzers and pigeons with it.i know there,s bunnies and lots of crows to deal with as well.ive seen how useful your pedersoli is with your posts on pigeon watch and that plus firing a bess at a couple of gamefairs inspired me to get a bess for fun days walkabout shooting atb
