I read a description on an auction site selling two Italian replicas of .45 derringers. Seller claimed they are real powerful using 60 grains of FFFFG :youcrazy: Seems a little excessive. Maybe they were Walker derringers. I'd taper back to 55

I saw the same auction and said to my self "go ahead and try 60 grains of 4f buddy let us know how it worked out after you get released from the hospital." I have the same gun and the recommended max load was 30gr of 3f. Ya might be OK with a little more but I wouldn't risk more than 5 grains extra. :shake:

ther is No way 60 grains will have time to burn in that short barrel....maybe 20 gr or less...
these guns are very luck to shoot at 300 fps...
the ball will bounce off of a 2x4 at 10 yds if you can hit the wood at ALL.

My derringers shoot quite well with 25 grains of powder. At ten yards I can easily hit a paper plate and penetrate a full inch of pine. Mec puts 30 grains in his and has recorded in excess of 500fps. But sixty grains is stretching it a bit I think.
