Price is one issue. Dixie taking 4 weeks to send out $10 in parts is the bigger reason why I wont use them anymore.
Shipping orders in the order they are received is a simple way to make it as fair as possible and reduces the time spent on the phone dealing with customers that think their order is shipped ahead of everyone else’s.
In most cases, it takes just as long to prepare and ship small parts as
It does big parts.

I have used Dixie Gun Works in the past and been very satisfied with the results. I have always thought the guns were a little pricy, however the parts and accessories have been fair enough. You can find some good scratch and dent deals if you go there in person! I'm also satisfied with Track of the Wolf, Pecatonica River, Rice Barrels Company, Green Mountain Barrel Company and Graf and Sons; all have provided great service and conversation on the phone. Grafs had a warning on their website that orders would take some time to fill (weeks at the time) and the last powder order I purchased early this year was just that...weeks to fill. Dixie has put a similar warning on their website, maybe it wasn't there at the time some folks placed their orders, but its there now. I typically don't mind the wait as long as we have been made aware of it, extremely frustrating with no warning. Still waiting on two hydraulic hoses that were "in stock" for the backhoe, ordered the parts 3 weeks ago, when I called they said it would be another two weeks...

Last couple orders I have placed was with "The Gun Works" muzzleloader Emporium. I needed a breech plug to convert a T/C barrel to flintlock and Track of the Wolf didn't have the size I needed in stock and The Gun Works did so I tried them out. Next time I wanted some various parts and spring vise, they called me to verify the order as the spring vice wasn't going to work on the coil spring lock parts I ordered. We had a good conversation and I assured them I needed the vise for other locks with flat springs. I thought it was good of them to check out the order and give me a call to make sure it was correct. Shipping was just over a week, but most of that time was on me as I sent them a personal check as payment. Their website / ordering system is a little old school compared to some, so is their customer service...old school in a good way! If you are unhappy with your current supplier or they don't have the parts your looking for, give The Gun Works a try!

Was there at "The Gun Works" muzzleloader Emporium just Yesterday!! Its the late Joe Williams Place now run by his wife and family. Knew Joe for 30+ years and a regular with 7+ tables at Cal Expo. Amazing place with so much ML stuff crammed into to such a small space. I highly recommend them and a visit may leave you astounded.

I just wanted to thank all of you who are listing these great sellers that I can never seem to get to pop up on a google search... i think I've added over half a dozen companies for parts/accessories ... o7

when they send a flyer out with sales in it, you better hang onto your chair, the items cost more than originals do!! and they call it a sales flyer!!!

Not just them. Looked at totw last catalog. Lock was $133 now $195. Inflation arbitrary or otherwise is pretty much everywhere. Anyone else think we are in trouble?

Too true. seems like buying real estate outright is only hedge. The prices of parts and complete rifles and pistols is really sad and basically destroys what Muzzle loading used to be about. Also restoring ML guns is almost beyond most folks reach. Add on huge cost of living increases and ML be only a rich mans hobby. I have a 1973 DGW catalog in hand and prices then (as now) just hard to believe.
Gosh, comparing anything from 1973 to current prices is shocking! We all made modest salaries then, but comparing is useless due to inflation. My auto insurance in '73 was for a year, what I pay now for a month!

The overseas worker wages, and dollar to "euro" exchange rate all have effects! It's good, though, that many of the Locks are made here by American companies. Keeps the dollars in the USA!

Try comparing to 2 months ago. That's IF you can find what your looking for anymore. Gas here went up another .20/gallon overnight so even shipping cost on BP stuff may be affected.

Inflation is real, survival is "iffy". Over the decades I've bought lots of stuff from DGW including at least one, maybe two guns. But most of what I bought was fairly minor stuff, but there was a fair amount of it. Twenty years ago DGW prices were quite reasonable on many things but definitely not everything. Some 18 or 19 years ago I wanted a US 1841 rifle in the original .54 caliber. The DGW catalog listed them but only in .58. The shock was the cost of the "Mississippi rifles". So I started looking around.

I turned up an outfit called (spelling?) Jarnigan's. They listed that very rifle for more than 40% LESS than DGW. They could also supply the rifle in .54 but it was a special order item. I went ahead and ordered the .54 and felt lucky to have found it at such a low price. Yes, there was a "reasonable" wait for the 1841 and I'm glad I made the decision to order from them. Euroarms was the importer and quality was amazing. Walnut stock, precise fit and finish, a truly fine representation of the classic rifle. To me the main attraction of DGW has always been the loads of odds & ends, misc. parts and hard to find stuff. I haven't ordered from them is quite a few years, but one never knows.
Interesting, thanks. I would like to have the M41 in .54, but have two in the .58 cal. Recently bought at LGS, a Bernadelli Mississippi, from 1975 mfg. date, basically un-fired. Took it home for $400., refinished the stock with appropriate stain and boiled linseed handrubbed, and have a real nice gun for a fraction of the current prices. It was missing the rammer, so that was another expense, but that's how it goes. I have a new .54 Minie mould I got from an estate sale, but no .54 musket yet! Have a great week! (Both repros are Bernadelli, the other is mid-1890's) Jarnagin's is well known in the CW re-enacting community.

Hmm another one whose online catalog is being "updated". Seems many are "updating" prices as we speak. And adding updated prices, shipping and new internet sales taxes

Dixie Gun Works is 10 to 20% higher than TOTW, MBS, Pecatonica, LogCabin Shop and others. The percentage is even higher on some of their items. They have worn out the 3-4 weeks excuse. I can't bring myself to deal with them anymore. I placed an order with MBS on 5/6 and was sent a tracking number on 5/7. I can buy an L&R lock for $170.00 anywhere else but DGW charges $189.00. A straight GM barrel is is $170.00 anywhere else but at DGW they are $200.00. Do the math.

I got a QUEEN pistol used for$375.00, and jumped on it, and it was unfired!!! so one never knows does one?

If a lock is beyond your means perhaps you should try another hobby.
Hint: Do not try Golf.o_O
By "means" i meant sense of value. I "collect" Real Estate with great views. As for golf I would invest in the course itself if the return was right, but paying to play the game is out of the question.
