I would love to hear more about this gun and see some pics.
It has a restrained elegance in my view. The iron furniture is very well crafted. It has a large bored, thin-walled barrel with straight grooves. Converted to percussion and perhaps made into a half stock then.

That is a beauty, I quite like the simplicity and understated nature of some guns.

Thanks. I believe the idea is that straight rifling allows somewhere for fouling to go as a number of shots are taken without wiping. But it’s a bore type that did not last into the 1800s as far as I know. Because the barrel is octagonal to the muzzle I do not think it was intended for shot. Certainly there would have been octagon to round barrels available for that. But I’ve heard that straight rifling and shot are not incompatible.
