I've been using an old supply of of ballistol and it always had the strong smell and always turned my white patches a yellowish color when applied. I just opened a new can and the first thing I noticed was that the smell wasn't as strong and when I applied it to my patch it was as clear as water. My old can says Ballistol lube and the new can says Ballistol Sportsmens Oil (I was told they were the same product). Any ideas what's up.

Thanks

Yes they are two diffrent products by the same maker. I made the same mistake one time. The good stuff reads Ballistol multi purpose Sportsman's Oil.I have used this for years and never had a spot of rust on my muzzle loaders.

What you want is the Sportsman's Oil, I would try any Ballistol product they sent me however...
