Well being new to flint locks I am learning. Sometimes frustrating to tell the truth. Last time I shot it was off a lead sled and at 25 yards balls were touching 5 in a row. No hesitation it ignition. Yesterday ran a few windex patches then some dry patches to make sure it was clean and dry. Ran a pick in the touch hole. Checked for good spark before loading. Loaded and primed both with 3F. No Boom😳.
Blew out the pan till clean, wiped it out. Checked for spark. No spark. Played with it for awhile and finally got 2 shots off with delayed ignition. Pan it 3/4 filled with powder away from the hole.. at least with those 2 shots still using sled I broke 2 clay pidgins at 60 yards. 😃 guess it will take time. But sure gets frustrating. 😂
Been shooting rock locks for 40+ years. Its a skill, takes years to master. Mine will fire in a hurricane. Don’t give up. Keep at it. There is a certain pride to being able to get one to fire first time every time.

Curious whether you cleaned/wiped or sharpened your flint before or during this session. Your issue sounds like a dull flint or one where fouling has "lubed" the flint or frizzen and is keeping it from sparking well.

Yes I did. But I think I know a part of the problem. Looking at the frozen there are a lot of gouges on it. I dry fired it looking for spark. And it chipped the flint pretty bad. I saw where some had said be careful but try emery cloth to smooth it out. I will give that a try. Thank you

Sold mine for $500. Buyer couldn't get the money out quick enough. You have a fun, pretty darned authentic rifle to enjoy for a long time. Screws on the one I had were metric according to the Dixie GW gentleman I spoke with on the phone.
