thanks for all of your experience

GOOD HUNTING AND GOD BLESS

can't address this specific rifle, but i did always want one. pity that it's discontinued. i've had uniformly good experience with DGW.

good luch with your new gun- you'll have a boatload of fun; get out and make good smoke!

I own two of them in flint. (32 and 50 caliber)
They are a little muzzle heavy, and get heavy to carry after a long day, but are good shooters for a factory rifle. When my eyes were younger my 50 caliber could put 5 shots into 2 5/8" at 100 yards. That wasn't benchrested, but shooting from a bench with my front elbow on the table.
Start at 50 grains of powder, and move up to 70 grains or so.

thank you all for the info as far as pic's go i don't have a clue how to post a pic can you talk me through that thank you
GOOD HUNTING AND GOD BLESS

Hawkin,
I have 3 of them and they all shoot better than I can hold, nothing new there. They are good rifles for the money but are super muzzle heavy. 2 of mine have had a bunch of wood taken off and actually look like a longrifle and one now has barrel pin eschutcheons and a cap box.The 3rd has had a bunch of wood taken of and the barrel shortened to 36".

I had two, the 50 cal. and the 32 cal. I traded the 50 off some years ago but still have the 32. They are muzzle heavy but mine both shot great.
Hip

I agree on them being muzzle heavy. But, I wish I had not traded my off years ago. The best thing about them is their authenticiy. These were the most authentically built factory long rifle ever offered. You have to go with a custom built gun to get away from all the mass produced short cuts you see in other out-of-the-box reporductions.

Wish that I had kept mine. Yes it was a little bit barrel heavy out on the end, but it was a good shooter. Never had a problem with the flintlock either.
Don't reall remember why I sold it. :idunno:

The early version used a 7/8" octagon barrel and were quite a bit lighter and less muzzle heavy than the later version which went to a 15/16" barrel. The locks are certainly not the best quality but can be improved with a bit of tinkering or replaced with an RPL. I ended up converting mine to percussion.
