I'm interested in the steel Murdoch flinter from
Dixie Gun works, but I have a few questions.
In the reviews,it says the barrel is brazed to the frame, would this be a problem in cleaning?
Also the vent is undrilled,would drilling the vent be a problem if you can't remove the barrel?
Thanks for your help;
Jerry

How much are they asking? I got a real nice one from Middlesex village Trading and the vent hole was already drilled. Heres a link Middlesex

Thanks for the info!
Dixie's undrilled one was $370.
Quite a difference!
Are you happy with yours?

Jerry

I believe the dixie murdock is made by Palmetto. Palmettos are expensive but seldom work.

I was happy with it, although I had to sell it due to getting layed off from Ford last year. Things have improved and I would consider getting another one.
The only thing I didn't like was the frizzen, which had a bit of a rough surface, it always sparked well.
