Well... I was window shopping on Jan 2nd, and a used Pedersoli Brown Bess caught my eye. Nice condition, so I grabbed it. Though I don't know much about flintlocks, I figured by buying local, I'm supporting the local economy, keeping Dealers in business!

I'll see how this Bess performs when I get to buying some needed items.....

First you want to get some flints-for English 1 to 11/8 flints I recommend RE Davis. For domestic chert I recommend forum member Rich Pierce of Missoura.
Next you want to get some wheel weights or range lead. Then you will be wanting a mold. I have had a lyman.735 for 18 years and found it very servicable for about 8,000 balls so far.
I have found 80 grains 3f Goex powder works best for me in paper cartridges.

Well I got a package from UPS that is as tall as I am. I got it literally at 1:15 and I had to be at work at 1:30 so there was no time!

But I am home now and here's the first impressions:
-it's almost as tall as I am and more slender so the ladies will be attracted to it before me.
-the stock is too big and pretty. I am afraid to start working on it.
-This is the most awesome thing.
-I need a bayonet.
-I need a red coat...
