No...actually it's someone who used to frequent a few ML boards until a couple years ago...rarely ever posts anymore.

I have sent some of this discussion to a friend who might do an experiment or two on this. He worked on a project that was a bit similar in nature.

Take a look at:

If nothing else, it is quite enjoyable and I applaud Larry for his skill and enthusiasm.

Roundball and Bountyhunter I owe both of you an apology.I did not know that new Winchester AA hulls are manufactured differently from the old ones. They do indeed melt with Black powder loads,STS remmy's are still the the same manufacture(at least for now).I did a test last night with new AA's,and about 1/3 of the hull was melted(70 grains 2f Goex).New hulls are very thin and the powder cup appears to be pressed in.My apologies...Respectfully montanadan..with egg all over his face

Good gracious, no need to have egg on your face...you made a post in good faith based upon your experience...one thing using Internet forums has taught me is that there are very, very few absolutes...stuff is changing all the time without everyone knowing about it, different variables are involved, different conditions have an influence, etc.

Now, if you had said "1:48" twists don't shoot round balls accurately" we'd have to talk !!

roundball.we will see if 1-48 twist hawkins .50 cal will shoot roundballs on wed if i dont get exhausted with heat hear in pa.i bet you can guess who this is,ha.been using maxi-balls 370 from 1971,now switched to powerbelts. going to give your rb try again after 36 years hating them, ha.

Going to hit a full 100* here today and tomorrow, with heat index at 107-110.
Need to snsure your bore is 100% free of any buildup...bore light won't show it in the 90* corners of all the lands and grooves and a patch coming out white is very often misleading.
(Shooter's Choice Black Poder Gel is fantastic for dissolving everything and returning a bore to it's bare, raw metal factory condition)

FWIW, as far as loads go, with a known clean bare bore, this is what I've settled on as it works so well for me:

TARGETS
50grns Goex 3F
.018" TC prelubed pillow ticking
Hornady .490

HUNTING
90grns Goex 3F
Oxyoke wonderwad
.018" TC prelubed pillow ticking
Hornady .490

And stay hydrated AHEAD OF TIME...
