I wax mine, I had renaissance wax but couldn’t tell it from Johnson paste wax.I wax my guns. Been using Renaissance Wax but switched to Collinite 238 paste insulator wax after using it on my boat. Keeps water and snow beading up on the metal for a long time.
Seems to keep the stocks nice also.
Johnson Paste Wax and sadly it is no longer made.
Will need to find some Renaissance.
I like the minwax. I'll take some photos of my broken colonial stock and post them in this thread for the community's referenceIt’s good stuff and have a half a can laying around. Wish they still made it. Don’t know how the MinWax brand is.
I went on a search for this paste wax and it was listed at $31.xx for a one pound container. I also saw where this company is no longer in business <Lundmark Wax Company is permanently closed.>. I can see why at those prices!Since Johnson's is no longer available. I got this from my local Hardware store. It works Great.
Oh wow! I didn't know that. My hardware store is a very old one and is mostly a train wreck in there. But the Gentleman that runs it knows where everything is. I think that price tag on the top is 11.99, maybe? So it was old stock he had I guess. So I guess, we are down to Minwax or Renaissance, which I do have a large can of it too.I went on a search for this paste wax and it was listed at $31.xx for a one pound container. I wax the undersides of my barrels pretty heavily.Hmmm, I have never considered using paste wax on metal parts. Looks like I know what treatment my kibler is getting the next time I unpin the barrel.
