Does anyone know who does charcoal bluing ??

I believe I am as well a 'victim' of poor 'charcoal bluing' on this 'old' CVA replica '51 Navy Colt I bought NIB many years ago.

I say 'old' because I didn't realize CVA even offered handguns and only thought they sold rifles back 'in the day' but apparently they did and mine is marked 'ASM' as the Mfg.

Regardless I was 'sink washing' the barrel and this was the result! I have been shooting it many years like this but I am planning on 'oil blackening' it soon. I have oil blackened many small parts and screws and this will be the 'biggest' thing I have ever tried.

Who Cleans their pistols in a Dishwasher. Too lazy for a bit of Dirty work?? Serves you well. O.D.
Charcoal blueing is not difficult,Just time Consuming, Hot and Dusty. All you need is crushed charcoal,an airy shed,Polishing material,Tow and an iron or an old marble washstand table topand a heat source,Gas ring or the like.. AND lots of time..OLD DOG..

I do not think anyone cleaned there firearm in a dishwasher per say only used Dish Soap by hand…..P.S Who Would Do That…

I'll be honest with you, it was a bit harder than I had expected. These guys are GREAT through!

And here is their "fire blue" which would be the same thing as Uberti charcoal blue.

But I've searched for all morning at this point (3 hours) through my researching and if you want a TRUE charcoal bluing your options are limited. Many and including Uberti/Pietta are not true charcoal bluing, they are immitation. True charcoal bluing can range from looking just blued to a bright blue finish depending on the underlining metal polish. Ultimately you need to decide not just what finish you want but what you really want to invest in this revolver. Doesn't seem sane to invest $400 finish in a $200 revolver.

I think a nice engraving on any gun that has heritage and collectibility in it's history is perfectly logical. However when we are talking a clone gun IMO it is hard to justify much "improvement" in it appearance wise. Then again, here I am with some clone guns with some nice Giraffe bone grips on them so maybe it best if I just shut up.
