Just to let you guys know that I really like these pistols, I figure I'd best let you know that I went and ordered another one. It came the other day, and if anything is better than the last one (no need to file any fitting for the pan/pan-cover). Now to make a holster for this one!

Rumour has it that they (Middlesex Village Traders) might actually start having some doglock or snaphaunce lock muskets made too... THAT would be REALLY cool. ::

And one of these days I'll actually dig out my bore-measuring gizmo and figure out exactly what the calibre really is on these things, too. :hmm:

Cheers,

Gordon

Hi,Gordon. Now you have a brace of pistols. Mine actually mics out to .655 caliber. Will have to order a custom mold from Dixie. Hope both of yours are the same caliber so you won't need two ball sizes. I really like mine too. The only real negative is the off caliber sizes on many of them. What did you use for a pattern for the olsters?

Thanks, Rick. :RO:

Rick;

Now you really have me wondering! .655???? :shocking: Yikes. Well, what the heck, more of a 16-bore than a 20-bore! I'll have to see if I can find my instruments in my mess from moving.

For a holster, I just eyeballed it. You are pretty much just making a big funnel out of leather (at least the top part is) and then a narrower pipe at the bottom. Try it a few times with butcher's paper, or a paper bag first, THEN cut the leather, though!

Cheers!

Finally got a picture to post that shows my armour. Here I am with my "other" squire Guillaume and his wife at a recent event (in my back yard, :))

And another picture which shows my holster pretty well... and most of the rest of my kit too. I had already taken off the armour, as I need to modify it before it tears up my saddles any more than it already has. I also need pauldrons and vambraces, as well as a gorget that FITS me, to complete the kit.

Anyway, you can see how the holster rides, buckled by a strap to a ring on the saddle, and with another strap to the breast-collar.

BTW, the big white think I'm bowling over with my lance is called a "Shock Quintain", with about a 75 pounds of rocks in the burlap-covered box at the base... with TWO of those boxes, it bowled ME over, LOL! Still, the pony and I together at a gallop have a fair amount of kinetic energy...

Cheers!

WOW !!!! Thanks for the pic in the armour. Looks very authentic. Now I know what the holster should look like for my doglock. Thanks again Light Dragoon. Where did you find your helmet and breastplate?

Glad you liked it Ricky :hatsoff:

The helmet ("burgonet") I got through eBay, though there are other vendors out there who sell them, like Albion Swords:

http://www.albion-swords.com/moat.htm

(Though it looks like they don't have the burgonet right now, however they do have cabassets and morions for sale, preatty cheap!)

The breastplate came from Illusion Armoury:

http://www.illusionarmoring.com/

(It's the Elizabethan "peascod" breast and back, with tassets etc.)

I'll look for a good pic of holsters for you too.

Cheers!
