When it comes to fluxing lead, some swear by it :thumbsup: and some swear at it :cursing: . I choose to flux my lead because I believe that it gets it cleaner than not fluxing. But, that is just me. :idunno: When it comes to fluxing, I guess it's to each his own. :surrender: Whatever floats your boat.
 
You are correct and I could have better made my point with more thought. Rust would be, instead, an example of molecular bonding creating a new material. Alloys do not form atomic fusions or "simple mixes". This is the reason an alloy, be it WW, brass or stainless steel, has characteristics not found in the separate materials from which it was formed. Good call on my post, by the way.

I will agree, fluxing will float your "crude" in the pot.
